Amazing Grace Presents:
Hang Loose: George O’Hanlon,Ellur, Burning Juniper

GEORGE O’HANLON

It is more than apt that George O’Hanlon is making his recorded debut with The Storm EP. Away from a stage or a microphone, the 21 year-old from Dorking might seem more inclined to simply shoot the breeze. Yet like nature itself, which with little warning can stir from merest whispers into a devastating tempest, through music O’Hanlon has the power to connect with some truly elemental forces.

The Storm EP’s opening, and title, track makes this point with a smoldering beauty. From its gentle acoustic opening, O’Hanlon’s bare emotions are there for all feel, vocally running a spectrum from earthy to angelic, before the song first swells and then bursts with an intense passion worthy of its title.

Yet while the experience of playing live has helped to forge the feeling of a “different person” onstage, as is immediately apparent from the candid quality of his tracks, the person performing and writing these songs is still very much George O’Hanlon. The feeling could not come from anyone else, although the songwriter explains that by making a place for his music to exist away from his everyday life, he has acquired the perspective that allows him to make the most of what life throws at him.

Considering the passion and the depth of heart-stirring The Storm EP, it is somewhat remarkable that its songs only trace George O’Hanlon’s first steps on his artistic journey. Feeling the growing power and artistic electricity behind this young yet assured voice, it seems not only prudent to expect lightning to keep striking.

ELLUR

Northern indie-pop artist Ellur writes self-detrimental love letters to herself in the form of danceable guitar anthems. Ellur’s music glows with youthful energy whilst she reflects on rejection, craving validation and independence.

The 21-year-old Halifax artist decided she would write about her relationship with herself and take inspiration from a range of her musical icons from HAIM to Cocteau Twins when she was recording her latest set of singles in Leeds’ Greenmount studio with Lee Smith (Holly Humberstone / Easy Life) and Rob Slater (Yard Act). Recent singles ‘Close To You’ and ‘Best Face On’ are both shining examples of Ellur’s ability to write deeply infectious, feel good indie-pop anthems.

Ellur released her empowering ‘Moments EP’ in 2021 via Dance To The Radio Records with singles championed by Spotify Editorials (NMF UK / EQUAL / Hot New Bands / Peach / Alternative Future etc.), DORK Magazine, BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Radio X and synced on new Amazon series ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ and Channel 4’s ‘Made In Chelsea’. This year Ellur and her live band have supported the likes of The Big Moon, Baby Queen, Abby Roberts, Deyaz, Saint Motel and a full UK tour with Embrace.

BURNING JUNIPER

Burning Juniper are an Indie Rock band from South East London consisting of Ellis Smith (Lead Singer, guitarist), Lewis Maddison (Lead Guitar), James Roberts (drums), and Callum Gough (Bass guitar). They mix guitar-driven, post-punk hooks with effortlessly brilliant melodies, and have perfected their stage craft by regularly performing live in front of packed shows at a wide range of venues including their latest sold out headline gig at The Water Rat’s with This Feeling for the release of their debut EP. Their singles ‘She Changes The Weather’ and ‘What’s The Point’ have garnered plays on BBC Radio London from Jess Iszatt and Robert Elms and Radio X from John Kennedy.
“Burning Juniper may just be the most exciting band to emerge out of London this year, if they keep this up the sky is the limit!” – It’s All Indie (Paul Bambridge)
