YellowStraps
Somewhere between Anglo-Saxon new-soul, bedroom r&b and Jazz influences, YellowStraps had an exceptional year 2020. Critically acclaimed as Belgian neo-soul prodigies, their latest releases have resonated internationally, with ever-growing audiences and enthusiastic media.
Their February 2020 EP ‘Goldress’ topped BBC 1xtra’s Top 5 EP of the Week, and their live performance on COLORS features on the Berlin studio’s first-ever vinyl compilation.
A few weeks later, in the midst of a global pandemic, YellowStraps bounced back by collaborating with artists from all over the world through interposed screens. From this challenge will be born the Yellockdown Project, a 13 homogeneous and sincere titles, like their universe both colorful and delicate. Among others, there are some representatives of the bubbling Belgian scene (Primero, Swing, DVTCH NORRIS and blackwave), the Londoner Louis VI, and the essential producers AgaJon, Jae Luna, ROMderful and Crayon. The result is a harmonious record that has its roots in a deep sense of freedom despite the discomfort caused by the upheaval of our lifestyles. It also demonstrates Yvan’s ability to write and sing in both French and English.
The expected releases should make noise, as YellowStraps continues to free itself from codes to soon establish itself as one of the flagship groups of modern soul.
