From Amazing Grace to Glastonbury: Celebrating the Rise of Music Talent

2023-06-16

Since we opened our doors in 2021, our live music venue in London Bridge has witnessed unforgettable performances by incredible UK and international artists. From emerging singer-songwriters to a Congolese legend, our SE1 home has welcome a selection of talent who are due to play at the legendary Glastonbury Festival this month.

The largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world, Glastonbury, established in the 1970s, aims to encourage and stimulate youth culture from around the world in all its forms, including pop music, dance music, jazz, folk music, fringe theatre, drama, mime, circus, cinema, poetry and all the creative forms of art and design.

Kanda Bongo Man - The Other Stage:

We were pretty pumped when Kanda Bongo Man took to the Amazing Grace stage earlier this year, captivating the crowd with his inflectional songs and kwassa kwassa dance rhythms. Always leading with one manifesto – to have fun – Kanda’s Afro-rumba beats will no doubt have festival goers on their feet when he performs on Glastonbury’s The Other Stage.

Tara Lily – BBC Introducing Stage

Labelled ‘One to Watch’ by The Guardian, South Londoner Tara Lily has spent her life absorbing a multitude of sounds and genres from her surroundings, ranging from alternative R&B to classical jazz and traditional Bengali folk music. Expect a unique blend of pop, rock and other influences as well as a soulful voice and compelling lyrics.

Shelf Lives – The Greenpeace Stage

With their socially conscious lyrics and high-energy performances, Shelf Lives has become synonymous with Amazing Grace’s commitment to music that makes a difference. The duo – made up of Toronto-born vocalist Sabrina Di Giulio and guitarist and producer Jonny Hillyard, who hails from Northampton – will bring their contagious enthusiasm and thought-provoking tunes that inspire positive change to The Greenpeace Stage.

Harvey Jay Dodgson - The Hive:

Inspired by the music of Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday and the free-flowing vocal melodies of Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles, singer-songwriter Harvey Jay Dodgson was on the bill at our Hang Loose night at Amazing Grace. His voice exudes warmth and authenticity and if you’ve yet to give his new EP Alligator a listen, you’re seriously missing out.

Mellowmatic - The Gateway:

Mellowmatic are the dons of Amazing Grace’s Saturday night entertainment, performing to packed audiences on the regular. The seven-piece band brings a live set that takes audiences on an eclectic musical journey from the Boom-bap 90’s to present day.

Land Of The Giants - The Gateway:

Closing this remarkable lineup is none other than Land Of The Giants, who are known for their dynamic live shows and fusion of genres. Having electrified the crowds at Amazing Grace, they are now set to bring their larger-than-life sound to The Gateway stage at Glastonbury.

At Amazing Grace we celebrate up and coming and established talent. Since we opened our doors, we have welcomed incredible acts and hope to be doing so for many more years to come.
